It may not feel like winter is over yet (certainly not here in MN), but spring is just around the corner. In fact, March is the month where we experience the transition from darkness to light. As life all around us begins to move from hibernation in the darkness to sprouting it’s colorful life in abundance, spring is a time for us too to transform and recreate our spark of life.

With March being part winter and part spring, nature starts to prepare itself for the rebirth of the ecosystem. It’s also a wonderful time for you to start preparing yourself for the transformation and personal growth Spring can bring. One effective way to help propel you into your personal greatness is to examine how you prioritize yourself, your self care and the acceptance of your unique self.

You may want to ask yourself:

      • How are my current daily rituals serving me?
      • What can I do differently to create the best version of me?
      • If I made a change in my lifestyle, what possibilities could happen?
      • How do I view myself? What am I resisting about myself? What could I be more accepting of?
      • What are my current choices creating in my life?
      • What choices would allow me to feel more at peace? Joyful? Playful? Happy?
      • How do I show up in the world? Is this aligned with who I am?
      • Who am I?
      • Fill in the blank “I Am _______________.”

Personal growth and transformation is about learning who we are to allow us to make changes so we can become the best version of ourselves. It consists of physical choices that impact our physical, mental, emotional, relationship, and career health. However, one often overlooked factor is our perspective about ourselves. The way in which we perceive ourselves and how that fits into the world around us, directly shapes our biochemistry and what we attract into our lives.   If doom, fear, neglect, scarcity are seen the body will respond with appropriate chemical reactions to ensure the body is protected and safe from the potential risk of our survival. On the flip side, if love, abundance, and joy are perceived, the body will feel safe to secrete reactions that promote health and vibrancy.  The body always follows the mind!

Throughout our human existence, we experience people, challenges, and situations that shape our thought patterns and belief systems about ourselves and the world we live in. Oftentimes our relationship with ourselves and others becomes defined by society’s rules that are placed upon us. We are exposed to information, advertisements, media, cultural norms, and familial habits that can create physical, mental and emotional health challenges. The accumulation of all these things can lead us to believing inaccurate truths about ourselves.

Many times throughout the day, and oftentimes first thing in the morning we’ll wake up making statements such as “I am tired.” Other common statements you might find yourself saying “I am fat,” “I am lonely,” “I am stressed.”

What follows the words “I Am” are what you believe and ultimately what you become. Our brains are wired for negativity essentially as a protective mechanism, which is why we often focus on the negative. We also typically focus on the things we want to change, rather than the things we already possess. It is ever so important to re-direct our thoughts and energies towards the good we see in ourselves.  To make it true for ourselves, which is ultimately your innate truth.

The language we use, our mindset and our perception do shape what we attract and who we become. But how do you turn your statements into something that feels true and positive at the same time? According to John Carter, an entrepreneur and personal growth devotee who’s had a pretty difficult upbringing says this “If you’re lonely, you may wonder how you can write an “I am” statement that feels real and true and stated in a positive way. What about saying, “I am full of love.” Because, what is loneliness anyway except having a ton of love and nowhere to place it? Write, “I am full of love to give,” and begin to shift your state from feelings of despair and loneliness to that of love and anticipation.”

According to the Bob Proctor Institute, “You’ve got to be mindful of the ideas that you are planting. Unlike the conscious mind, the subconscious mind is totally subjective. It accepts whatever it is given. So ANYTHING that you say, write or feel over and over again will eventually become fixed in the subconscious mind.” What becomes fixed in your subconscious mind, is what you become. Thoughts create things!

Your language, your thoughts, and your beliefs are patterns that can be shifted with great care, and will yield huge positive results with regard to healing the body and mind. Yes, it does take practice. In fact, making shifts in your thoughts and beliefs is one of the greatest acts of self care you can give to yourself, and in turn to the world. You see, you are like no other on this planet with unique gifts and talents to give. Nurture your gifts, they are needed and it starts with your beliefs. Complete this sentence ” I am________”. Practice an answer that will leave you feeling alive and connected to the beautiful miracle that is you. Embrace the abundance surrounding you. Allow life to become magical!
