Cranberry Orange Sauce

The Sauce:

  • 12 oz package of whole fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup apple juice
  • zest of 1 orange
  • juice of 1 orange
  • 2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger
  • 3/4 cup raw honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder

Cook Time: 10 Minutes

Total Time: 15 Minutes

Yields: 2 Cups

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a low boil.  
  2. Simmer 10 minutes or until cranberries are bursting and desired texture is achieved.  
  3. Remove from stove and allow to cool.  Enjoy warm or cold!

Notes

*May substitute half the amount of honey by mixing in 1/8 teaspoon powdered stevia or more to your desired taste at the end of cooking time.

  1. To make straining easier I use a mesh strainer over a pitcher-style 4-cup measuring cup. This makes transferring the stock to the canning jars easier. I do one jar at a time, cleaning out the strainer as needed. the fat will rise tot he top of the jars in the fridge which can be included in whatever you are making or scraped off if your body is not ready for all the fat. Discard the bones and vegetables. Meat still on the bones can be eaten or reserved for soups.
  2. I love to drink the broth warm with a little sea salt added with meals or use it cook rice or vegetables. I also use it anytime a recipe calls for stock or broth. So delicious healing to your gut!
