Barbara Segura wove energy, spirituality, and medicine to navigate a profound healing journey.
I am honored to share the story of an initiate, Guide, and Teacher to so many here in Florida. I personally have had the pleasure to be on Barbara’s healing team. I admire her so much for her resilience and amazing attitude! We have been doing distance healings for her since her diagnosis in 2022 when she was given just 9 months to live and here we are well over 3 years later. She has defied a Stage 4 diagnosis. Barbara’s story is one of hope and of defying all odds!
For about seven months, Barbara Segura felt unwell. Despite being told that nothing was wrong, she trusted her intuition and continued to advocate for further testing to understand persistent abdominal pain.
In June 2022, she received a diagnosis of Stage 4 peritoneal cancer. This type of cancer is often grouped with ovarian and pancreatic cancers and is known for being particularly challenging. She was given nine months to live.
Six months later, Barbara received a cancer-free diagnosis. Below are YouTube links to Part 1 and Part 2 of her story, shared in conversation with Dr. Kate Bartram Brown.
Highlights from Barbara’s journey include:
-
How she combined medical treatment, spirituality, mindset work, and energy practices as part of her personal healing approach
-
The importance of trusting yourself and advocating for proper testing
-
Why she chose to share her diagnosis publicly from the beginning
-
How she built a network of support teams—healing, nutrition, transportation, communication, prayer, and emotional support
-
The power of receptivity and allowing oneself to receive care from a global community
-
Why having an oncologist you trust, who collaborates with you, makes such a difference
-
The role of intention, visualization, and empowered language during chemotherapy—she even named her chemo “Fire Dragon Magic” and blessed the medicine
-
How the teachings and community of the Modern Mystery School supported her throughout
-
The importance of having a strong tribe
-
The wisdom of the principle Know Thyself
-
And her reflection that “It’s how we respond or handle life that determines how we feel day to day.”
Barbara’s experience demonstrates how she brought together every tool available to her—medical care, spiritual practices, mindset, and energetic support—to face an overwhelming diagnosis with strength, resilience, and hope.
